A Victorian Marble Top Table with Elaborate Wooden Base

A Victorian Rococo Revival centre table constructed from carved wood, fitted with its original conforming serpentine white marble slab. The top features an ogee-moulded edge, cut to follow the generous undulations of the cast frieze beneath.

The wooden base incorporates scrolling acanthus leaf aprons, pierced cartouches, and cabriole legs headed by foliate knees. The legs terminate in scrolled feet and are united by a low, shaped central stretcher for added rigidity.
