Heir & Spare, of Door 15, 99 South 3rd St., Hudson, New York 12534 ("we", "the house"), keeps as little about you as is useful and nothing it cannot explain. This policy covers heirandspare.com and the shop itself.
What we collect
- Your account. Your email address and a password (stored scrambled; we cannot read it). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google, and nothing else.
- Enquiries and appointments. Your name, email, telephone number if given, and whatever you choose to write.
- Orders. Your name, email, telephone, delivery address and what you bought. Card payments are handled entirely by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
- Inner Circle applications. Your studio, website, Instagram, how you heard of us and, if supplied, a resale certificate. Certificates are visible only to you and the house.
- The Dispatch. Your email address, if you sign up.
- Visits. Which pages are viewed and the site that referred you, counted against an anonymous tag kept in your browser. It is not linked to your name or account.
Why we use it
To answer you, to sell and deliver pieces, to hold pieces for trade members, to calculate sales tax, to send the letters you have asked for (order confirmations, dispatch notices, the Dispatch) and to understand, in aggregate, which pieces draw interest. We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who else sees it
Only the services that keep the house running: Stripe (payments and tax), Google (if you sign in with it), our hosting and database provider, our email delivery service, and the carrier or courier delivering your piece. Each receives only what it needs. We will disclose information if the law requires it.
Cookies and browser storage
We use your browser's storage to keep you signed in, to remember your bag and to hold the anonymous visit tag. There are no advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
Order and tax records are kept for as long as tax law requires, currently seven years. Enquiries and applications are kept while useful and removed on request. Dispatch addresses are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your choices
You may ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you, or to leave the Dispatch, at any time. Write to inquire@heirandspare.com and we will reply within thirty days. Some records (orders, tax) we must keep by law, and we will say so.
Children
The site is not intended for anyone under sixteen and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised date above will change with it. Significant changes will be noted to account holders by email.
