The Story
A pair of substantial cast stone pedestals conceived in the Gothic Revival manner, drawing directly on Early English architectural vocabulary. Each pedestal is formed with a cluster of engaged columnar shafts set beneath stylized stiff-leaf capitals and a robust, molded abacus forming a shaped square display surface. The lower register terminates in corresponding stepped annular bases over an undulating plinth.\n\nCast in a dense, buff-toned composite stone, the surfaces exhibit the granular texture and mellowed coloration typical of architectural cast stone meant for an orangery, terrace, or interior hall. They provide a stable, solid support suitable for classical busts, terracotta urns, or bronze sculpture, offering an architectural presence rooted in ecclesiastical gothic forms.
