The Story
A matched pair of shoulder mounts of mature male nilgai (Boselaphus tragocamelus), the largest Asian antelope. Each specimen displays the distinctive iron-grey to blue-grey coarse coat characteristic of adult bulls, punctuated by crisp white throat patches, facial spots, and white inner ears. The sharp, smooth horns curve gently upward and forward above glass eyes set into well-modelled facial forms.
Native to the Indian subcontinent and introduced extensively onto ranches in southern Texas from the 1930s onwards, nilgai became a prominent quarry in late-twentieth-century sporting collections. Both examples here are modelled in forward-facing attitudes, prepared over rigid manikins with skins neatly tucked and stitched behind. Offered as a balanced pair, suited for hanging flanking a fireplace, archway, or hall entrance.
