The Story
An octagonal occasional table designed in the Regency revival taste, dating to the mid-twentieth century. The octagonal top features a crossbanded mahogany border enclosing an inset panel of faux leather, accented with blind and gilt Greek key and floral tooling.
The drum-style frieze is configured with an open central niche for books or periodicals, flanked by panelled returns fitted with a decorative patinated metal lion-mask ring handle. The carcase is supported on a turned central pedestal terminating in a splayed tripod base with reeded legs. Constructed from solid mahogany and veneers, the table offers a compact format suited as a bedside or sofa companion.
