The Story
A complementary pair of architectural wings, likely cast from plaster or a dense composition material, originally belonging to a monumental ecclesiastical figure or decorative pediment group.
Each wing is modelled with overlapping layers of plumage, transitioning from soft, rounded upper covert feathers to elongated flight pinions defined by shallow striated channels. The surface retains an off-white, calcified wash with ingrained dust and soot in the recesses, lending depth to the relief. The bases terminate in rough, fractured edges where the elements were formerly affixed to an angelic torso or architectural spandrel. Left unmounted, they serve as evocative sculptural fragments suited to display on custom brackets or laid flat.
