The Story
A matched pair of tall architectural pedestals cast in dense composite, executed in the classical Corinthian order. The capital is detailed with layered acanthus foliage supporting projecting volutes and a moulded abacus, sitting atop an astragal necking ring.
The slender shaft features twenty shallow flutes terminating at an integral moulded base and squared plinth. Finished in an off-white gesso or painted layer, the surface displays intentional and natural distressing, revealing the pale substrate beneath. Likely produced as an interior prop, studio plinth, or architectural display element during the mid-twentieth century, it remains structurally sound and suited to the presentation of sculpture or terracotta urns.
