The Story
A striking pair of large decorative wings, executed in the manner of architectural or theatrical ecclesiastical carvings. The pair is modelled joined at the scapular join, swept downwards in an arched, reposeful posture with deeply articulated primaries and downy covert feathers.
Constructed from carved timber or dense composition, the surface has been heavily layered with plaster and gesso before being rubbed back and weathered in distressed shades of off-white, chalk, and soft earth tones. The finish gives the impression of long exposure, reminiscent of stone or weathered limewood church figures.
Substantial in scale and designed to be wall-mounted, the piece functions as a sculptural accent or dramatic architectural fragment, lending historic texture and classical iconography to an interior.
