The Story
A compact desktop storage or index box, conceived for stationery, index cards, or office sundries. The carcass is built of heavy pasteboard with bound tape margins and clad overall in a textured paper mimicking crocodile or alligator hide, popular throughout the 1930s and 1940s for commercial and domestic desktop accessories.
Each drawer front is fitted with a patinated pressed metal cup handle riveted into position, doubling as a modest finger pull. The interior drawer construction follows standard bookbinder's method, offering functional utility in a discreet, low-profile form.
