The Story
An oblong butler's tray of canted rectangular form, executed in richly figured timber—likely burr walnut or amboyna—beneath a raised, chamfered gallery. At the centre sits an unengraved brass escutcheon, flush-mounted to the tray bed.
The gallery is fitted at either end with twin brass loop handles incorporating ring-turned grips of bone or composition material, secured by circular backplates. The tray exhibits the disciplined proportion and robust construction standard in English domestic woodwork of the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, resting here upon a conforming tooled leather-inset stand.
