The Story
A cast plaster or composite furniture foot or model, modelled as a stylised lion's paw surmounted by a cylindrical collar with moulded stiff-leaf or palm decoration. The circular top is flat, indicating its intended role as a structural foot, maquette, or casting model for furniture ornament, such as for a heavy stool, jardinière, or architectural plinth.
The toes are boldly defined with sweeping contours, terminating abruptly at the base, while the collar exhibits clean neo-classical low-relief foliate bands. Unpainted and showing an chalky matte surface, it was likely conceived as an artist's cast or workshop template rather than a finished exterior element.
