The Story
A mid-twentieth-century presentation trophy depicting a male tennis player in mid-serve, his left arm extended upward and racquet poised overhead in a classic athletic pose. The figure is cast in white metal with a silvered finish, mounted upon a low domed plinth decorated with a stylised band.
The statuette rests on a substantial square block of black marble veined with vivid white calcite. Fitted to the front elevation is a metal plaque engraved with a presentation inscription for the 'Five Towns Community Chest' men's tennis tournament, pointing to Long Island, New York. Robustly cast and nicely weighted, it survives in sound, original order.
