The Story
A small cervid frontlet and spike antlers, mounted to a shaped wooden escutcheon. The specimen, likely that of a yearling roe deer buck, retains its simple unbranched spikes displaying characteristic pearling at the burrs. The skull cap is affixed directly to the plaque with two visible frontal screws.
Both the mount and the wooden backplate have been painted overall in an opaque, matte off-white finish, lending the piece a spare, monochromatic architectural quality while preserving the silhouette of traditional sporting taxidermy.
