The Story
A mid-twentieth-century cast metal sporting trophy. Modelled with classic mid-century sporting attire—collared shirt, tailored shorts, and plimsolls—the figure balances atop a slender, early-profile skateboard. The dynamic posture captures the popularisation of sidewalk surfing during the sport's first major wave in the 1960s and early 1970s.
The sculpture is cast in white metal with a bright silvered finish, set upon a turned spreading metal collar with cast foliate banding. This assembly is mounted via a central internal rod onto a square stepped softwood plinth stained in a dark walnut tone. Uninscribed, the base retains its clean profile, having never received a presentation plate. A charming piece of twentieth-century subcultural ephemera executed in traditional trophy-maker forms.
